North Litchfield Water Rehabilitation Project Information

Georgetown County Water and Sewer District (GCWSD)has hired Carolina Waterworks LLC to install new water lines and water meters in your area beginning February 17, 2026.

What to Expect During Construction

Construction activities will occur within the public road right-of-way and may include excavation, pipe installation, temporary water service connections, pressure testing, disinfection, and roadway restoration. Residents may experience temporary traffic disruptions, lane shifts or closures, construction noise, and the presence of heavy equipment during normal working hours. Access to driveways will be maintained whenever possible; however, brief temporary delays may occur.

Maps have been provided on this page to illustrate the overall project area and to identify the side of the roadway where the new main lines are anticipated to be installed. These maps are intended to help residents better understand where work will occur; however, exact installation locations may vary due to field conditions or change orders.

Temporary Water Service Interruptions

At certain times during construction, temporary water service interruptions will be necessary to connect the new water lines to the existing system. The District and Carolina Waterworks LLC will make every effort to provide advance notice prior to any planned outages.

Safety Reminder

For your safety and the safety of construction crews, please use caution when traveling through work zones and follow all posted signage.

Project Timeline and Restoration

Weather and field conditions may impact the schedule; however, the project is expected to be completed before the busy summer season. You may notice activity in your immediate area more than once, as the water lines must be installed, tested, and approved before the contractor returns to install new water meters.

Once underground work is finalized, disturbed areas within the right-of-way will be restored. Final paving or surface restoration may occur after a short settlement period to ensure long-term roadway and driveway stability.

What You Can Do to Help

If you haven’t already, please relocate any landscaping or irrigation located within the public right-of-way as soon as possible, as Carolina Waterworks will begin installation on Lakeshore Drive. Irrigation systems within the right-of-way are not located through public 811 services and may be damaged during construction. Landscaping, foliage, fencing, or other structures located within the right-of-way may need to be removed to complete the project and may not be restored to pre-project conditions.
