IRRIGATION.....

During the hot summer months, Georgetown County Water and Sewer customers collectively use more than 2.5 times the average daily use for the remainder of the year. Where does this additional water go? Primarily outdoor watering and irrigation.

'Tis the season to watch the grass turn green, flowers burst with color, and home vegetable gardens to spring up. However, during the peak summer season, many of the District's customers are watering lawns and gardens at the same time, which can cause a great deal of stress to the water distribution system. The District, in years past, has asked our customers to follow an alternate day irrigation schedule in order to conserve our resources and be able to have enough water available at all times, for all customers, even during the peak summer tourist season. We ask again, in hopes that you will adjust your timer now rather than waiting until this year's peak season.

Briefly, the schedule is as follows:

Odd Numbered Addresses: addresses ending with an odd number can water and irrigate outdoors on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Even Numbered Addresses:  addresses ending with an even number can water and irrigate outdoors on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

For commercial customers, or group entities that have more than one address to be irrigated collectively, use the entity's name.

Names Beginning with A thru M:  names of subdivisions, developments, or entities beginning with A thru M will water and irrigate on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Names Beginning with N thru Z: names of subdivisions, developments, or entities beginning with N thru Z will water and irrigate on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
